This body of work features sculptural objects made from colonial silverware and furniture. Photographs of these antique objects reference the formal qualities of renaissance still life. As silent observers of an era in which they were present, in a contemporary context they hold stories of that time embedded in their materiality.
Megan Evans is an interdisciplinary artist, working in video, photography, sculpture and installation. Her work is informed by social issues, examining the nature of belonging and the impact of colonisation on identity (both self and nation). Her practice ultimately involves a mix of conceptual issues and aesthetic concerns.
