A Symphony of Hues

Gaye Beal

Earlier this year, I journeyed through Rajasthan, India; a living mosaic filled with stories, struggles, and splendour. This city is an intricate blend of history, culture, and spirit filled with amber walls, marble dreams, and mirrored halls, alongside palaces and fortresses etched in sandstone and crowned with gold. The rich indigo blues of block-printed fabrics contrast with the cooler blue walls of buildings.

Using multiple exposures as the vehicle for my inspiration, the resultant abstraction creates a juxtaposed interpretation that embraces all the subtle nuances of the subject, creating a sympathetic symbiotic relationship.

Biography

My photographic journey began with film cameras. I now shoot with a full frame mirrorless camera and android phone. Five years ago I returned to using 35mm SLR and 120 medium format cameras. I also experiment in collage using my own images.
