Workshop: Midjourney to Better Worlds — AI Prompt Engineering, Ethics and Alternate Reality Image Generation

What to Expect

Join digital media artist Warren Armstrong for an introduction to AI prompt engineering. Participants will also learn about ethical dimensions of AI image generation before trying your hand at the tools.

As this workshop is taking place at Oxygen College, you’ll be working in a computer lab with access to a desktop computer.

What to Bring

  • Your laptop, if you’d prefer to work with it
  • A snack and water bottle

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this workshop, students will be able to:

  • Generate their own AI imagery using text prompts.
  • Understand the ethical dimensions of AI image creation.
  • Speculate on how we might visualise better worlds through and with AI.

About Your Teacher

Warren Armstrong is a digital media artist, creative technologist and workshop facilitator who has curated augmented reality sculpture exhibitions, presented gallery shows in virtual worlds, and created artworks that generate musical compositions from the forces of nature. He is also part of The Parallel Effect, an art collective that uses alternate reality as a vehicle to explore saner and more just worlds than our own. And, as part of this, he has used AI to allow people to hear messages from other versions of themselves in other universes.
