Minimalism and Abstraction

John Callahan

Minimalism and abstraction are somewhat the opposite of each other. One is simple to interpret but the other requires some thought to interpret.

This exhibition hopes to display the simple nature of life and our surroundings, and the calming effect they have on us.

Biography
I am a “late starter” to photography. I started serious photography in 2006 and commenced an Advanced Diploma in Photography at Photography Studies College, in 2012. I started my retirement in 2022 and, now have more time for photography.

My current project, “minimalism and abstraction” has been underway for six months. I have done most of the work while travelling through outback Australia for the last three months.

I love volunteering in the arts and am currently on the board of Yarra Valley Arts in Healsville.
