Workshop: White-on-Black – Photographic Photopolymer Printmaking with Dianne Longley, Agave Print Studio

Registrations Closed

What to Expect

Create a photographic image printed onto beautiful printmaking paper using a photopolymer plate. Instead of printing with black ink on white paper, in this workshop you will create a negative plate and print your image in white or silver ink on black paper.

This workshop is ideal for printmakers and photographers who would like to experiment with a different printmaking technique and produce in their photographic images, an other-worldly, twilight effect. (Tonal drawings can also be used.)

Materials provided, including A6 Printight KM73 photopolymer plate plus test strips, inkjet transparency film, black intaglio printing paper, etching inks, registration sheet paper, tarlatan, cardboard inking scrapers, tissue paper.

Printing equipment includes: printing press, printing felts, UV exposure unit, wash-out trays, fan heater, cellulose sponges, talc, soft brush, metal rulers, cutting mats, orange-peel solvent, rags, newspapers.

Please wear protective clothing, including close-toed shoes.

This workshop has a capacity of 8 students.

Before the Workshop

At least one week before the workshop, participants will send Dianne 3-4 tonal photographs, with good tonal range and good contrast. The images should be 15 x 10.5 cm at 300dpi. Do not alter the photographs. Photographs which lend themselves to a twilight or atmospheric ambiance are best.

Dianne’s details will be provided to participants after they book.
