Like no other place

Ian Kemp

For Ballarat-based photographer Ian Kemp, images of the natural world are a metaphor for the transience of human life – its permanence and impermanence.

The landscapes in this exhibition are from the La Puna region of Argentina.

The images are imbued with an otherworldliness that captures the vast and isolated nature of the area. They show a changing world where beauty is ephemeral and temporary. They appear abstracted as they convey the impending change that will come with the seasons, a metaphor for the transitions within ourselves as we progress through our lives.
