David Rosendale resided in the Hepburn shire in the midst of the darkest times of the pandemic, with travel to his long standing subject of Victoria’s Alpine region effectively ceased by restrictions. Turning negative into catalyst for new creativity, he focused on the forest landscape within his 5km. Each sunrise, each moment the sun illuminated the mysterious darkness of the forest – a moment of creation. There is no greater narrative than being lifted from darkness. The pandemic provided a momentary pause or “revelation” for all. In this continuing study David imbues traditional art & allegory to communicate present circumstance.
