Using analogue photographic processes that require a slowing down and provide an opportunity for direct control and creative engagement, my work centres on identity, belonging and my connection to space. In the context of the pandemic, forced isolation, the restriction of movement and free use of space, belonging and connection to space have become amplified, almost universal concepts, encouraging us to contemplate what is left, how it changes the way we relate to that space and how we feel about it.
A range of life experiences have shaped the way I see the world and make pictures. Focusing on identity and belonging, incorporating documentary and street photography influences, I photograph with many types of cameras and film, from instant cameras, medium format masterpieces to digital models, each a tool with a specific use.
