Homines Fabulosi Wadawurrung de Terra

Peter Sparkman

A sequel to Humans in Ballaarat, which was presented at the 2023 Ballarat International Foto Biennale, Homines Fabulosi Wadawurrung de Terra explores our diverse community, here on Wadawurrung land.

The main focus of this exhibit is on some of our lesser known, incredibly talented artists and creatives, who live, love, practice their craft and call this place home.

My photography is inspired by ’70’s Time-Life Magazine photos and many International legendary photographers of the past and present, as well as Australian photographers like Rennie Ellis, Max Dupain, William Yang, John McRae, Meg Hewitt, Sara Nash and others.

Like the photos of famous artists that we all think of when we mention their names, like Picasso or Dali, my aim is to get at least one shot of these humans that could possibly live on past their time on this earth as a visual reference of them for future generations. We all should have at least one!

Biography

I have been taking photos for 47 years now, documenting, recording, creating. I have exhibited in many exhibitions both group and solo over the decades, recently including the 2023 Foto Biennale and a solo exhibition for the 2024 Chillout Festival
