The BIFB thrives through the help of our amazing volunteers. Being part of the festival crew is hugely rewarding, providing you with the opportunity to develop new skills as well as meeting people who share your love of photography. You’ll not only be making an important contribution to Australian arts and culture, but you will also be advancing Australian photography on the world stage.

BIFB is a non-profit organisation, so it really is thanks to the generosity of people like you that it all happen.

Opportunities during the festival:

Installation Volunteer – Construction

Installation Volunteer – Framing

Installation Volunteer – Labelling and Hanging

Festival Ambassador – Exhibition Sitter

Plus, we have lots of other opportunities to get involved in the lead up to the festival!

We want to make the volunteer experience as rewarding and as fun as possible.

We hold induction sessions in both Ballarat and Melbourne prior to the festival, and you’ll be issued with a Volunteer Handbook and Kit.

We also host social activities for volunteers to meet festival artists and other festival volunteers.

To say thanks, volunteers each receive a complimentary copy of the 2015 Core Program Catalogue (RRP $20.00), invitations to festival events, local discounts and a certificate to acknowledge your involvement.

Each volunteer also has the opportunity to be recognised with a nomination for BIFB’s ‘Golden Hammer Award’ for volunteer excellence.

We love our volunteers, and welcome any queries you may have. For further details contact the Volunteer Coordinator on (03) 5331-4833, by email steve[at]ballaratfoto.org or complete the volunteer form now.
