Slow Curtain was originally commissioned for White Night Ballarat 2024.
It emerges as a poignant black and white video installation, which invites viewers into a labyrinthine journey through urban and natural landscape. Within this sequence of footage, reflective light plays upon ever-present bodies of water, casting shimmering imagery that moves in harmony.
Projected onto a wall/curtain the footage unfolds at a mesmerising pace, blending real-time and slow motion imagery to craft a luminous sideshow of unparalleled beauty. Each frame is a poetic observation, capturing the essence of emitted light, ephemeral states, and the elusive silver-lining moments found within the everyday. This art piece is a reminder of the interconnectedness between the natural world and humanity.
The installation is anchored by a soundtrack that consists of environmental warped sound, natures rhythm and tempo, and an urban pulse.
Slow Curtain stands as a testament to the power of art to transcend boundaries and illuminate the beauty that lies hidden within the world around us.
