When I look through my pictures, I sometimes discover that one image goes well with another, even if they are from different times and places and of different subjects. There is often a visual link – format, style, structure, context or representation of the time when each was shot. I’ve always been a street photographer looking for shape, colour and tone, but I’m primarily interested in human narrative, fleeting expressions and gestures.
Biography
At nine I was given a Kodak Brownie that used 127 B/W roll film. By selling mushrooms at the roadside, I saved enough to buy a better camera with a built-in flash. Eventually I acquired an SLR and set up a darkroom in the laundry of each house.
