Chromatic Silence is a photographic exploration of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia, Argentina. Captured during a self-organized trip in January 2020, the series studies the glacier through sweeping landscapes, layered mid-range compositions, and intimate close-ups, focusing on its complex textures, forms, and vivid hues.
The radiant whites come from weather-beaten surfaces exposed to sun and wind, while the deep, electric blues reveal compressed, ancient ice. Dark sediment veins trace the glacier’s slow movement and layered history.
Shot with a single camera body and a versatile zoom lens – and improvised tripods on location – the work embraces improvisation and close observation. Minimal post-processing preserves the integrity of the light and form.
Dissatisfied by only capturing sheer magnitude, the photographer later found clarity in the subtle details: tonal gradients, fractures, and luminous shadows. This is not a conventional landscape series; it’s a meditation on presence and perception – an invitation to pause, notice, and see differently. For armchair travellers and detail-lovers alike, these images offer a quiet portrait of ice, time, and transformation.
