Move into the future through the Promoted Peculiar — International AI Prize 2025

The Prompted Peculiar – International AI Prize returns in 2025 following its groundbreaking debut in 2023. This global competition pushes the boundaries of AI-generated imagery, inviting artists, designers, and innovators to explore the creative potential of artificial intelligence through text-based prompts.

Entries open 28 March and the jury shortlist of AI images will be exhibited during the festival from 23 August to 19 October 2025 and festival visitors are invited to cast their vote for the People’s Choice award.

The Prize

In 2023, the Prompted Peculiar - International AI Prize sparked a global debate on AI and creativity.

This is a global competition that offers a $2000 prize to the overall winner and $1000 to the People’s Choice award. As new technology impacts visual culture, Prompted Peculiar is an invitation to debate where this new art of ‘promptography’ belongs.

Prize winners will be displayed during the 11th Ballarat International Foto Biennale from 23 August to 19 October.

Award announcement: Saturday 4 October 2025

People’s Choice Award voting open Saturday 23 August, closing Monday 29 September.

Entries open Friday 28 March.

There is a simple three-step process to enter:

Accept Terms and Conditions
Complete the online form with personal details, upload a JPEG image (20cm on the long edge @ 300DPI) and an Artist Statement (up to 200 words).
Make payment of $50 per image (15% discount for ‘Friends’) and you are successfully in the running for the cash prize!
