Join renowned architectural photographer John Gollings for an in-depth masterclass providing insights into his practice. Witness Gollings’ photographic technique in person, getting a glimpse into the artist’s process as he photographs the new Ballarat GovHub.
This is an exclusive observational masterclass, where you will be able to learn tips and techniques. John will take participants through his process as he demonstrates his photographic set up, lighting and overall process, providing unique insight. While there will be no formal notes provided, you are welcome to make notes as you observe John and his process.
Participants will meet at the entrance of Ballarat GovHub.
John Gollings has been making pictures of architecture for going on forty years, he has recorded the progress of modern architecture in Australia and elsewhere. Gollings is a photographer specialising in the built environment including the documentation of both ancient and modern cities around the world. In 1976 he received private tuition from Ansel Adams in his darkroom at Carmel, California. He has taught the use of large format cameras, and lectured on architecture and advertising photography at Prahran College, Melbourne and Sydney universities and Philip Institute amongst others. Recently more time has been spent on longer term projects with academic or cultural significance for books, exhibitions and fine prints.
