The Maggie Diaz Photography Prize for Women (MDPPfW) is proud to call itself a biennale prize after a very successful inaugural prize in 2015.
The prize celebrates the life of American-born Maggie Diaz, who came to Australia in 1960 and became one of Australia’s foremost women photographers. A commercial, portrait and street photographer, she was recognised for her use of ambient light. The prize aims to attract a wide scope of photographers from photography graduates to enthusiasts with an eye, with the one aim: to impress the judges with their use of available light and compelling content.

The MDPPfW is the initiative of BRIGHTSPACE, St Kilda which administers and hosts the exhibition of shortlisted works and the prize giving. The judging panel includes celebrated photographers: Hoda Afshar, Robert Imhoff and Julie Millowick.

The competition is open now and entries close on the 14th July.

Prize supported by the Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
