Kyrgystan (officially the Kyrgyz Republic) is landlocked surrounded by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. It was an important part of the silk road and other commercial routes and the country declared independence from Moscow in 1991 with the break up of the Soviet Union. We were delighted to spend an extended trip to this beautiful country in 2018 supported by locals and Russian-speaking guides.
Helen and Alastair have travelled extensively with a particular focus on remote photography. This will be their fifth Biennale exhibition following street photography in Paris (Not quite Henri 2013) and Cuba (Cuban Colour 2015), landscape photography (Polar Ice-scapes 2017) and Wildlife photography (The Emperor Penguin 2019).
