In an Australian premiere, Han Sungpil will present a major site- specific installation from his renowned photographic series Polar Heir. Exhibited in one of Ballart’s most popular inner city laneways, Sungpil’s photographic display will transform the location into an urban iceberg of epic proportions.

Polar Heir is exemplar of Sungpil’s career-long concerns with global warming and its relationship with humans. From 2013 to 2016 Sungpil travelled throughout the Arctic Circle to photograph the indisputable effects of global warming. Experts suggest, shall the world’s polar ice sheets melt the world’s sea level will rise by approximately 60 meters causing catastrophic consequences.
